This pack is a collection of very small batch and exclusive wines that you won't see in a shop and you'd be lucky if they ever brought it out for a tasting at their cellar door. In fact, for us to get our hands on these bottles took a lot of wheeling and dealing. So here it is. The supremo of the supreme.

In this pack you will get:

  • 2017 Charli Jaye Chardonnay, Brockenchack
  • MV Mosiac Collection Mistelle Fortified Semillon, Levrier
  • 2017 Brother John May Reserve Release Shiraz, Sevenhill
  • 2016 Mosaic Collection Sorter Pinot Gris, Levrier

Further Details...

Oh, and what's Rhodium? Considering the rarity of these wines, we decided to seek out the rarest metal on earth. Everyone has Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum. This is even better. This is Rhodium.

Try this with this month's  cheese packs.

This month we have chosen four wines that will work across all four cheeses in our Therapy Box or Globetrotter Pack. We aren't going to be hard and tell you it needs to be paired exactly in a particular way. Rather, explore the flavours of the cheeses and wines and see what you like best. Naturally we have only selected brilliance. Let us know how we went!

In this month's Rhodium Edition:

2017 Charli Jaye Chardonnay, Brockenchack
An elegant and sophisticated Chardonnay with bright aromatics brought on by a cooler spring with good rains. Delivering aromas of kaffir lime, guava and spring blossom that develop into notes of stone fruit, melon and citrus.
Accolades:

MV Mosiac Collection Mistelle Fortified Semillon
The era of ports and dessert wines is making a resurgence as winemakers, like Jo Irvine, create specimens that are in touch with the modern palette. This thing is delicious and light. The grapes are only partially fermented then fortified with spirit. From there it gets aged for 9 years in French barrels and bottled 12months prior to release. Seriously... Who has that patience? Serve chilled with your cheese board at the end of a great meal and simply lean back and enjoy the company.

2017 Brother John May Reserve Release Shiraz, Sevenhill
Some things are best left to last. This wine is the pinnacle of what Sevenhill is about. Named after the last Jesuit Priest winemaker, Brother John May, this wine is steeped in sentiment, passion and history. Brother John May is famous in the Clare region, having served as winemaker from 1972 to 2003 and still shares his advice to ensure Sevenhill will forever be at the forefront of Australian quality. Picked from a small block that was planted by Br May in his early days at Sevenhill, the low yield and ultra-high quality have created a masterpiece. Plenty of rain in Winter and Spring 2016 looked promising, however, a cool January slowed ripening right down and pushed out harvesting significantly. A burst of hot weather, late in February 2017 pushed things along for a March pick early one morning in the cool. Matured in new French oak Hogsheads for 18months, this is the ultimate prize wine.

2016 Mosaic Collection Sorter Pinot Gris
This is a real treat! Jo Irvine completely blew the budget to make this one by buying some of the finest French oak barrels. We're so glad she did because they result is bang-on brilliant. Spending 12months on lees and then 14months in new and second-use French oak barrels before release, this wine is luxury, texture and fullness all rolled up into convenient little sips. Each this with pears and blue cheese and you won't go wrong.
